sheep mikuru, dog haruhi, crane tsuruya, eggplant yuki, and MOUNT FUJI KOIZUMI. ‘Nuff said. Please watch. For those too lazy to click on the youtube link (shame on you, it’s only 5 mins and Kadokawa has helpfully provided English subs), here’re a few screenshots:

(On another note, wonder how many people got grouchy at getting the Nice Boat option while the release was delayed. -wry-)

Otaku Review brought this interesting ‘new’ device, Navikare, to my attention a few days back. No, it’s not navi-care…While Navi certainly stands for Navigation, Kare (ka-reh) is short for Kareshi, or boyfriend. Also…where’s GPS-tan?? You’ll have to make do with tenuously-technology-related pictures for this post..sigh.
It seems the Japanese have finally capitalised on the possibility for otaku needing tour guides. Since it says ‘Drama CD’ on the AnimeVic link, I’m presuming it’s nothing as high-tech as a GPS — but as Otaku Review says, who is to say it isn’t possible in future?
Okay, so it could well be bad for business if you’re a tour guide. XD But I don’t usually go on tours anyway, though I’d definitely go for this if it’s affordable. Let me backtrack for a bit. Continue Reading »

There’s word that the first episode of Hetalia will be screening online soon, about 1.5 hour’s time soon. Airing is set at 4pm (GMT +9, I presume), and I’m checking this page waiting for it to update when the time comes, though I don’t know if it’s the right page. -wry- Countdown to the episode: here

It’s very early in the morning (Currently the time in the above pic in Japan…) but I’m waiting for Maria Holic 7 to upload…so thought I might as well do this while it uploads itself. Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly because of the primetime evening slot (6.25pm on Saturday), Kemono no Souja Erin makes the highest debut at 3.8%, beating the new Hajime no Ippo (which still managed to hit 2.8% despite airing at 2am-ish on Wednesday), as well as Minami Ke Okaeri (2.5%, 4am Monday). Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou (2.4%), Asu no Yoichi (2.3%), and Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo (2.1%) nabbed three consecutive spots. Read on for the whole list of ratings. (Source here, with thanks to the people maintaining a list of ratings over at Animesuki forums for the link to that site.)
Oh, also, if you’re interested in the days/times the anime air, as well as a countdown to the next eps, do visit my winter 08-09 anime lineup countdown page. Not updating it tonight, but will do tomorrow. It still needs some kink-ironing…keep forgetting to make the base href _blank.

If only Korea and Japan were more like UK and US in this picture.

The Hetalia anime has been CANCELLED and will not be showing on Japanese terrestrial TV (Kids Station). It’s a pity because I really was looking forward to it. :(
Fans of the series will, however, be able to catch a slice of the action with once-weekly net releases on animate.tv — and if you’re in Japan, you can catch it on yer mobile as well. Unfotunately, after having a look around animate.tv’s site…it seems several episodes of other anime are pay-per-view…around 100-200yen (generally 105) per. -wry- Well. Not sure if online fans can even view it after all..on the other hand, Akikan! is streaming for free, but that’s Bandai. (And I can’t access the video either. :S) We’ll have to wait and see, I guess.
Speculation abound regarding why the show was cancelled — most agree it’s something to do with them Koreans. But as pointed out several times, Korea doesn’t even show up in the anime, for chrissakes..so it could be just an excuse. More ominous theories talk about death threats. It seems some people just can’t enjoy anime without there being something political about it…even when it’s meant to be satirical.

I never thought I’d be posting on news, since I pretty much avoid it like the plague. Especially when it comes to current events. -wry- But this one surprised me enough…
Anime News Network reports that Kurokami will be releasing simultaneously (i.e. within a day) in Japan, South Korea, and America (as dubs, I’m not sure if they have subs). On the heels of the news that some subbing companies (Funanimation? I think?) have allianced with Crunchyroll to bring speedsubs, I wonder if the two incidents could be a sign of things to come. While I confess to not really believing in dubs, I’m pretty sure that this move will bring anime to a whole lot of other, not-as-hardcore viewers.
I wonder why they picked Kurokami, though. In any case, I doubt it’ll ever happen that quickly here down under. -wry- Ah well.
