--> (post a character with 'tsu' or 'zu' somewhere in his/her name in the shoutbox!)

How to Play: Join up the names! Taking the last syllable/sound of the previous name, suggest another name (of an anime/manga character or seiyuu) with that sound in any part of the name EXCEPT the last syllable. Please post the new name (and the anime/manga it's from) in my shoutbox. (Just above this.) No consecutive entries, please -- you cannot play this one alone. XD
When I get tired of reviewing, I'll pick one character from this list to feature in a post, regardless of whether I previously know him/her or not! :) That page will eventually be linked on this list.
E.g....Hirano Aya (Seiyuu)--> (next one should have 'ya' in the name, NOT in the end) Okuyama Masumi (Nodame Cantabile) --> Misato Kaoru (Moyashimon).......

33 Days of Inactivity - (500) Days of Summer

Published by jennkei at 12:56 am under anime Edit This

I might have to change this blog to ‘Movies By the Books’ some time, considering how little anime I’ve been watching! I -have- watched Eden of the East 11, which seemed a bit..unfinished. But that’s about it; still have lots of manga files to categorise and sort.

In any case, I got to watch (500) Days of Summer (vector fanart above) last last Thursday. I didn’t like it, for many of the reasons other people are raving about it. That’s not to say it isn’t a good movie. The next paragraph features me in full rant mode, so you might want to skip it…

Yes, it’s unconventional. But even though the voiceover dude said it wasn’t a love story, I (somehow-unreasonably) expected it to still be happy. Yes, it’s an inversion of usual gender roles. That doesn’t mean I like watching the main character, male or female, be an insensitive bitch/jerk. I mean, come on, if she’d been after ‘just fun’, she wouldn’t have settled down and married the next person who came along and was better than our poor male protagonist. At the same time, he refused to see the signs too. Nonetheless, it was still cruel when she invited him to a party and she had a BLING ring on. I am aware stuff like this happens in real life. (I guess that’s why people said this was realistic.) People break up and suddenly decide to marry and stay for years with the next person they meet. Except in this case no one’s really sure about the overlap. >.> That doesn’t mean I want to see it in a movie. Most of the funny parts were already in the trailer too…zoar.

Even though I didn’t like it, I still think you should watch it if you want to; my taste is weird at best, and I disliked Benjamin Button when most people raved about it, because of a small part with infidelity. -wry-

If you don’t mind spoilers, starblinx @ deviantart has done a rather succinct and cute cartoon condensing the movie.

I leave you with a very strange parody trailer of a tale of girl and chicken
