How to Play: Join up the names! Taking the last syllable/sound of the previous name, suggest another name (of an anime/manga character or seiyuu) with that sound in any part of the name EXCEPT the last syllable. Please post the new name (and the anime/manga it's from) in my shoutbox. (Just above this.) No consecutive entries, please -- you cannot play this one alone. XD
When I get tired of reviewing, I'll pick one character from this list to feature in a post, regardless of whether I previously know him/her or not! :) That page will eventually be linked on this list.
E.g....Hirano Aya (Seiyuu)--> (next one should have 'ya' in the name, NOT in the end) Okuyama Masumi (Nodame Cantabile) --> Misato Kaoru (Moyashimon).......

Immortal Regis Volume 1 - Zombies and a New Life

Published by jennkei at 11:06 pm under manga Edit This

At first, I thought, hrm, let’s read a bit of manga before I sleep and test tomorrow. But then I ended up reading all the volumes I had…lucky I didn’t have ten of them or something. -wry-

불멸의 레지스 1 (Immortal Regis) (Korean)(Immortal Regis, Volume 1) 불멸의 레지스 1 by 가온비

rating: 4 of 5 stars
Unexpectedly good! I had this sitting around, so I decided to read it…and read three volumes in one shot. -wry- Volume one introduces Jae Hyuk’s unique situation to us, and he’s a good-enough guy to tug the heartstrings.

After being killed-then-”Oops-a-daisy, I’m reviving you..as an undead!”, followed by being forced to leave his sick brother, THEN having his heart ripped out, you’d think Jae Hyuk would succumb to the call of Braiinnnsss.

The art for this manhwa was surprisingly-good, and actually looked more like Japanese manga than traditional manhwa. (The latter of which sometimes has a rather distinctive style.)

(For non-Korean readers, volume 1 was done by Meep-scans, and can be obtained via IRC: Lurk.)

Also..gotta love this bit. XD

It’s too bad what happens in the end of the series though :P But i won’t spoil it XD

And on a completely different note, you’d think a normal person would go nuts with what Jae Hyuk goes through wouldn’t you? These stories always have the main character staying sane for a while…what happened to the insanity~~ XD

  2. meganeshounenon 31 May 2009 at 11:35 pm edit this

Looking at Chevalier of the Abyss (the sequel to Immortal Regis), Jae Hyuk might not be so sane anymore.

Hell, he’s waaaay different compared to the kid we’re introduced in the first chapter.

Wao, comments so fast! Thanks, guys. :)

@Necroseer: I heard it ends badly, though.. Haha yeah, probably. Who’s to say he isn’t nuts?! XD Especially with that horny loli sword..ehehe.. -secretly likes the horny loli sword-

@meganeshounen: Hm, interesting, so drastic in 6/7/8 volumes, eh? I’ll continue reading. :) A bit sad Chevalier of the Abyss is only just starting, though, but hopefully I’ll remember to go back to it.

Lol it looks like Jay-san is having his own convo here. (Since I’m replying on his blog.)

You don’t have to bother to cross-paste here when you reply, Jay-san! I have your comment feed on my Netvibes (beside the twitters) now, so I can see ‘em, no worries. :) Any delay in replying is my fault. XD

@materix01: Haha! What’s with guys and being competitive. >.> I haven’t finished HEAPS of things, so. :P And I haven’t watched things like Haruhi and Lucky Star…and probably not gonna, with my backlog just of the current season the way it is. XD

Yeah…Immortal Regis doesn’t seem to be serialised weekly. Ah well.

@materix: Oh, at Ruse..James Ruse? :) They read lots of manga?! Oh, do you mean they read shoujo manga etc? Yeah, niisama doesn’t want to read shoujo manga either, though I rave about it sometimes. :D

@Jay-san: Ick! Just realised I forgot to reply to you. XD Ah. Well if you just pop back when you reply, it’s the same thing, isn’t it? :) I don’t mind, really. Whatever’s easiest for you~ (It just seems like a hassle to copy paste comments here and there. As long as you’re here, that’s good enough! :D)

@materix: Ahh. I still remember when I used to do that. XD Still do, from time to time…still a genre I like. ^^ Especially Harry Potter slash, ohohoho! :)

@materix01: Haha, your friend sounds pretty interesting. :)

I actually find it hard to read fanfic based on Japanese material since Japanese phrases will inevitably pop up (and even if they don’t, Japanese names would..)…so yeah. HP. -wry- Lots of fanfic out there.

It’s not all that fast, considering I get a notification when you post a comment. :P And my email window’s always open.

@Jay-san: Aww, you went to make one anyway. XD Thanks! The reason I wasn’t gonna use the top image for a banner, tho, is cos there isn’t much space for words. XD (Is that Times New Roman..? -squints-) And yup. I’ll get around to replying to the other comment on the more recent post…this lecture I’m studying seems neverending. ._.

@materix01: I consciously-lagged myself this time, how is it? :P My lecture notes are on the computer, so..haha, 48h. If it’s not too long, they can generally expect one without 12h. -wry- And if I’m on and it’s urgent, within a few minutes…heh. But yeah, facebook. :S That’s why I got twitter (where I could limit who could see my status changes/tweets) — except not many friends on twitter so meh. XD

@materix: Ick! No, no. Please don’t change it. It’s a bit small, but it’s fine. I’m not a big fan of TNR or anything, was just wondering. Like I was watching the start of The Promise and I went, ‘Hey..is that Papyrus?’ And every time someone uses Comic Sans… ‘Ew! Comic Sans!’

Haha, that bit is true. I followed Tom Felton until I decided it was a bit weird, so now the only celeb I’m following is Kelley Armstrong. =) Though she’s more artist (author) than celeb..

I twittered partly because of this blog (and cos a few other anime blogs are doing it, so it’s a good way of keeping up to date on news and gossip in the area :)) — -points in top left hand side- But I also have a personal twitter. Pretty much a place where I can rage if I want to. -wry- Don’t often post to my actual blog, and I try not to post when I’m grouchy anyway.

Touch wood~ Please try not to mention the f word, I get antsy around exam time. :( I had lectures in junior college in Singapore so it wasn’t anything new — we did have lecture notes printed out for us then, though, which was nice. Because I’m cheap and because it’s too annoying to have to print them every day, I’ve taken to leaving notes on my pc…

@Jay-san: There’s no original font. I had no choice in which was used in my header. Heh! That’s why I thought it was funny both of you used a similar font…I think I went with Zudjuice or Wildwords for mine, both of which are a staple in scanlating. :) (They’re like Comic Sans, except cool. -coughs- Wait, are you the one who liked Comic Sans..? ;)) Heh but you’re working which means you earn monay! I don’t earn monay studying. T_T And with the economy the way it is, it isn’t even a guarantee I’ll earn money as a result of all this studying…sigh. Worry later, I guess.

@materix: Heh font. (Please refer to previous comment to Jay-san. :)) Major exams every few weeks?! Eesh. That sounds terrible. Uni…meh. I guess what surprised me was the isolation. Was a lot closer to people in Junior College and even secondary school. Then again maybe I went into loner mode. XD

I should, but it’s so annoying. My printer is so SLOW, sometimes the lecture notes don’t say much anyway, and having to check/print every day..just..bleh. -wry- I did it for first and second year, now I can’t be bothered. -coughs-

@materix01: Oi! Be respectful to your elders! :P

Like I said..don’t diss it before you’ve tried it. -wry- And hospital work is actually pretty interesting, or so I’ve heard. Stressful if you don’t know your stuff, though. :P Dentistry…disillusioned from dentists charging me way extra. Optometry…same thing lol. Glasses in Australia are damned expensive. -_- Isn’t dentistry also 6ish/7 years?

  13. jennkeion 07 Jun 2009 at 3:27 am edit this

@materix01: Heh, you seem to have something against hospital work. -wry- Yes, people are overworked and underpaid — most of my friends are very interested in the opportunity of working in a hospital, though.

Yeah, but you can’t claim the full amount. :( (Not unless you’re with some dodgy Asian place, which very well might. XD) My parents just went and got them from China. :P They’re done like the next day instead of the next week (or sometimes even in a few hours since they have the lenses on site..), and it’s, what, 100 yuan? 20 bucks. -wry- Half-frame, thin lenses, astig for everyone, and high degree for my parents..so..yeah. XD

Don’t worry about the spamming. It’s conversation, not spam! Just treat this as a forum, haha.

@mono: Sorry, I just remembered to approve your comment! It’s highly-unlikely you’ll see this, but well..XD

@materix01: Meh I dunno, China fakes are essentially-indistinguishable from the real thing to people who don’t know what to look for. (Unless it’s something like pens, in which case yes, the real ones probably don’t dry out as fast.) If the shop I’m buying from will cheat when it comes to medibank, I don’t know what to expect of the rest of the stock. XD

I only care that they last + withstand abuse. =) And one day I’m gonna buy those nosepieces in bulk..from somewhere..

  15. jennkeion 09 Jun 2009 at 5:19 am edit this

@Jay-san: Eh? Serious! It’s a title field, all I get to do is plonk something in there..and it’s rendered into a heading. And haha, Comic Sans. I just try to avoid it cos it’s overused and reminds me of internet in the good ole days. XD Hm how is your handwriting? I reckon I write like a guy — niisama has beautiful neat writing, on the other hand. So maybe guys don’t write messy after all… ._.

And you -are- working. Just not on work work. -halo-

Lol that sounds really sus(picious) — I had to think for a bit before I remembered what that thread was about. X I see it on your comment feed. :) Will reply tomorrow since about to schleep~
