Kino sale! And Mother’s Day~
Mother’s day is coming up! (For people in Aus, anyway. I never knew until I checked that mother’s day was different in different countries.. ._.) Sanae from Clannad is probably one of the nicest anime moms I’ve seen around..though I can’t really remember many of them. ._. Toradora’s Yasuko…uh..who else? XD
So I think I’ve spent almost 100 bucks in Kino over the past week…largely due to a sale. :P It’s not much when some people I know have easily spent over 200. :P Part of it went to a book for mom as part of her mother’s day gift~ I thought it’d be damned easy to find a vampire novel for her (she’s been into it, somehow -_- At least she’s stopped thinking Twilight is the bees knees..) but apparently not!! Mention a few vampire book authors worth reading and I’ll see if I’ve heard of them/seen them in store. :P
In any case, I thought the Dante something series looked promising through the flip test (And it passed the cover test with flying colours), but reading the first chapter proved it was actually kinda boring. And meh, I may be a prude, since use of the f word makes me frown. -wry- So that was off…and I thought about getting Kathy McAllister’s Sex, Lies and Vampires. It started off promising enough — but it was $19.95. Was just gonna put it back onto the shelf when I saw another edition for $13. XD GET!
And, of course, some magazines were still on sale, so I bought two of them.
- One with a chapter of Skip Beat and an Otomen keychain (XD)
- Eerie Queerie by Shuri Shiozu (._. Yes, that’s the title..)
- Some other shoujo mag with a Gentlemen’s Alliance bookmark, some kind of paperboard, and stuff (haven’t opened it)
The other day I got..
- Some shounen mag that I peered at and decided to give niisama, who gave it to his sis. XD (Who was dismayed to realise it was in Japanese. XD) I bought it cos it came with a Yuki eggplant keychain~~ (And was on sale, ohoho.)
- Betsucomi Feb 2009, came with Chocolove tankoubon
- Inubaka 8 and 10. I am officially in love with this series.
- Otomen 1 (^^)
- Rave Master some vol, and Bakugan, both for bro. Latter wasn’t very worth it. ._.
Yay, loot. ^^ So, distractions aside, what are you getting for/have you gotten for/are you getting for your mom?
- First and last day of preschool.
- T.I. Sentenced To Expected Year and a Day
- War, Veterans, and Memorial Day: What About Respect?
- Happy Sid and Frankie Day, Braves Nation
- Operation Fitness to Honor Joe Weider with The Health Advocate Lifetime Achievement Award at 1st Annual Health and Fitness Day Event

@animemiz: Wow! I hope that’s combined from a couple of shopping trips? XD The difference, though (I think) is you have a job and I don’t… -flails around-
@Blowfish: Aww. Well if it’s any consolation, Kinokuniya isn’t very cheap. -wry- There are SOME cheap books (Like $13ish — fiction), but books in Australia are mostly super-expensive…though there’s a store called Basement Books in Sydney that’s pretty much a big bargain bin. But they mostly sell a limited range of fiction. Still, can find some pretty good books for super-cheap there..but not Jap stuff. Then again, I’ve been a collector of English books for years. =) And not really much of a manga collector.
Manga is generally $14 and up for English-licensed copies…sometimes I can get them cheaper from bookdepository.co.uk — might want to check that out if you collect English manga. (Not sure if you do..)
And yup, hab’ seid ~sechs jahre deutsch gelernt, aber grammatik wird immer ziemlich schlecht sein, haha. So pardon any horrible conjugation I use when I go into German mode. (Don’t worry, it’s not often! XD)
@Jay-san: Ahh. Yarh. My dad’s super unromantic. He wrote something about ‘appreciating (mom’s) contribution to the family’ on the card…sigh. Oh I thought you meant scifi’s no big deal. Come to think of it, fiction probably isn’t a big deal. Haha.
I have no idea what you meant about waking up to go to the bathroom. Wait, you wrote this when you woke up to go the bathroom?! o.O
@inalittleminute: No problem. Have since spoken to a friend and it seems the company was nicer than portrayed after all…but it did remind me of mizuage according to Memoirs, so I read up on it…which was interesting.
@M12: Hmm. English, Japanese, or Chinese novels? XD Yeah…heard they were putting out another 3000 manga for the $5 sale but meh..lazyyy.
