Star Trek - Za Movie
(Pic from Danbooru, unknown artist.) Nope, it’s not Kuronuozu (Clone Wars) — but it does have ’star’ in it!
I watched Star Trek at a Contagious Network preview (thank you so much, it was awesome! :D) last week, and because I’ve been busy with other stuff aside from watching anime (only one ep in two weeks..Eden of the East 2. ._.), might as well? Movie review~ With screenshots koped from imdb and the website.
Storyline: Rather predictable. Except the ‘villain’ was somewhat whiny and not very evil. ._. Or smart. I’m trying very hard not to spoiler here…pacing, nonetheless, was good — it felt like an adventure, and kept me on the edge of my seat chompin’ on those chips. :)
Movie Shiny?: Very shiny!! Up to and including strange lens flares. ._. Nonetheless, special effects were great. (Or, like this trailer attests, suspiciously like Star Wars. XD)
Casting: Superb. Though honestly, not being familiar with Star Trek, I’m not really sure how the characters are supposed to be..nonetheless, aside from the awkwardness (to me) with Syla..oops, sorry, I mean Spock, and his -ahem- with someone, it was all pretty seamless! I especially-enjoyed the comic relief moments courtesy both John Cho (Hikaru Sulu) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov). “Wictohr, Wictohr!”
Annnnd. For some movie shots! If anyone would like me to take them down, please tell me and I will..not sure if I can use ‘em. I don’t get why some of them were up on the original places, though. Some aren’t very flattering. XD
On another note (thanks to ClarissaG’s twitter): bishounen rice. ._. Ai no rice!

@Jay-san: Haha, I’ve never been away — I’m still sporadically posting on my Twitter! (Yes, I’ve gone over to the dark side…I’m sowwy..XD)
So you’re a Trekkie! Can you do the Vulcan greeting? :D And groan at your ‘Luke’warm pun. :P Well…it’s nothing as deep as The Matrix, and I can’t remember what Battlestar Galactica was about (._. short memory), but I thought Star Trek was fun. Then again, I’m a ST noob, and I’m not sure how a Trekkie would feel about it, though some have said it’s faithful to the source material…
@Jay-san: Looking forward to the post. :) (I think I’ll check now to see whether it’s up already and I’m slow. XD) I’m not very good with puns, and I’m rather too serious a lot of the time, so probably not. ^^ Is there anything bad about being a Trekkie?! :P I thought Trekkies weren’t limited to the films…in fact, since (I thought, anyway) most of the show was in the TV series…
I think there’ve been 10 so far, heh, that’s why this was unofficially known as Star Trek 11. :)
@Jay-san: Time to check. XD Okay, that rss feed doesn’t help when I never go to that page (the ones with rss feeds) on my netvibes/twitter page..-wry-) I have no idea how many series there are/were…watching the film did make me feel like watching the series, but then I remembered how many there were and felt discouraged. XD
@Cibbuano: Ah, the true fan! :P I’ve edited your link, by the way, so the code works. ^^ ( instead of [a href..])
I got called a racist by a few people for not liking that romantic pairing you speak of. Hopefully they don’t start attacking you next. Because apparently you can’t dislike the pairing for any reason other than you are a racist in denial.
(sigh)
@dreadpiraterose: Wow, that’s shocking!
I didn’t even think that could have been racist. ._. It’s not that I don’t like it…I love the idea of two intellectuals together. (HermioneXSnape!) But it just seemed awkward to me. I mean, it was kinda expected, but I still prefer my Spock…non-kissykissy. Would have been the same even if she were blond and blue-eyed, as long as that performance was given. :P On another note, I do think
It’s hard to explain why I thought it was awkward but maybe you felt the same way, seeing as you dislike it…heh.
@shijima: Which adorable pic? Bishounen rice? :D
Hmm I’m not sure about continuity…if it’s with the Star Trek universe I’d have no idea. If it’s movie continuity..yeah..plot was a bit dodgy.
