Polyphonica 2 - The Quiet Emo
The impression I’m getting from Polyphonica is rather academy-life; since it’s following the light novels, this is probably to be expected. I find it pretty interesting, though — maybe because I like the characters, even though Corticarte does seem pretty fierce sometimes. XD But I suppose that’s why she’s cute.
Like niisama says, it seems this might be gearing up to be a prime example of the ‘not awesome male with awesome female’ stereotype. Phoron worries about being inadequate — and we realise that even one of his teachers thought he wouldn’t advanced to specialised classes :/ Talk about lack of faith. Corticarte reassures him that everyone’s Shinkyouku is different, but later on, even she says what he’s playing isn’t Shinkyouku. :S Poor Phoron..he doesn’t even know what’s wrong, all he can do is worry about technical perfection.
One thing I don’t get, though — the references to terror. -boggles- Also, while they hint at the shadows we saw in the preview for ep 1, I don’t think it’s actually shown in this ep yet…

Believe me, you’ll get your terror as this advances. They are covering the Kinetic Novels and while it all started slow in there, the pace advances in the further games (1&2 had been slow, 3&4 had the plot driven on then). Ever since I played the game, I was hoping that they put it into Anime, and now they did. And I think they made a great job. So don’t be fooled by the Academy thing at the moment, soon they have a lot of more problems than Phoron’s inability to play Commandia…
@Corti: For a moment I thought you meant terror as in horror! (Forgot what I’d written in the post. XD) Heh, I’m just not used to it being a subject topic. ._. Interesting, I’ll definitely continue watching, then. :)
Wonder whether I should watch the previous Polyphonica, too, though the timeline seems a bit different…someone said the art was better though the animation wasn’t, but I’m not quite sure what that means. -thinks- Hrm.
@jennkai:
Watch the first season, it brought me into Polyphonica. It has no main plot, it is more like short everyday stories of their later work. But well, I am not someone who ditches Anime cause of animation or art, if the story captures me, I’ll watch it. The first season is definitly worth it, though I love the game more, and so I love the overall plot of the Crimson S series. It will answer a lot of questions the first season left open, and will explain a lot from the backside information of the world of Polyphonica (for example the whole eight-goddess-thing) ^^
XD @terror/horror
@ Corti
I felt the same way you did. Personally, the art and animation was just plain terrible. However, the music and the story just captivates me and before I knew it, I watched it all.
@Corti: Haha, art is part of the enjoyment, for me. :) Then again, I’m kinda easily-distracted, so maybe that’s to be expected? ._. I’ll catch Polyphonica after Crimson S finishes, then! :) Otherwise the backlog will probably swamp me. ._.
@Silver: Oh no, just mentioning the music makes me feel like watching it too. XD Backlog, backlog!
