Guin Saga 1 - Twincest and Ninjas and Ghouls, oh my!
(Just kidding about the twincest. :P) Guin Saga doesn’t immediately start off with Guin aka Conan — instead, there’s a visible lack of music, building up to an ominous thrum as we see a wave of black horses at night rushing across the land.
The mongols are invading! Our twins, Linda (Rinda? Lynda?) and Remus, are ushered out of the palace while their parents stay behind, promising to follow. Follow they do; right as the door closes, we hear a stab and VERY obvious death gasps. -wry- Of course, the invading ninjas aren’t happy at letting the heirs escape, so they BLAST the door open. But long-haired guy to the rescue! (Narisu-niisama?) Unfortunately, while he stands there cursing the Mongols for being unforgivable, he’s hit by an arrow and plunges down to (probably) his death.
Not really what I’d call a great introduction, and it’s only barely two mins in. XD The rest of Guin Saga 1 was interesting enough, I guess — the twins get teleported to a forest on enemy territory, where they meet Guin. Like the guy from Phantom Requiem, he doesn’t know who he is. But he completely pwns soldiers and saves the two kids. Some of the lines were stilted, and animation was a bit uneven (it seemed to improve as the ep went on, though) — the ED by Kanon (Saga ~ This is My Road) was pretty nice, though.
