Polyphonica 1 - It’s Technobardic Music!
Polyphonica starts off with an incomprehensible battle, and cuts to an unpopular kid with a heavenly voice in an orphanage (?) run by a nun. An armoured lady with long pink hair and long, incomprehensible name is drawn by his voice, and tells him she wants him. ._. (or ‘I want you to be my thing’ish? “Omae mo watashi dake no mono shitai.”)
Twelve years on, the kid (Phoron) has grown up, and is in a Shinkyoku academy, Shinkyoku being a kind of music that calls and controls spirits — i.e. bardic magic! :) People who can use this power are known as dantists. Phoron is kinda depressed at having failed the second-to-third-year exam because he hasn’t been able to call a spirit, but when he tries singing that song he did 12 years ago, he manages to call Corticarte Apa Lagranges up…who seems like a scary spirit, until she peels off the black exterior and out pops a…loli?
This part was priceless — Phoron boggling at Corticarte and not recognising her, Corticarte being indignant and poking him about ‘forgetting that full moon night 12 years ago’, which, since she’s a loli, made everyone around go, ‘O.O 12 years ago?!’ -chuckles-
I was wondering why Phoron sounded familiar — his gentle voice is the same as that of Natsume in Natsume Yuujinchou. Of course, he was in the first Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica (2007) as well.
Not really hot about eufonius’s OP (Phosphorus). No ED this ep. But the bardic magic means I’ll definitely keep watching this one for at least a few eps. :)
