Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo 1 - Code Geass in Space! (title courtesy Kai)
Facepalm. If you’re wondering what happened to the previously-posted entry on Mikagami Tokiya, I just realised that I’ve been looking at a delayed version of the Chinese sub site…so I have like 6 posts to catch up on. So I probably will save Tokiya’s post for some time when I’m free. Will be busy with reviews all this week, so expect some awesome ones!
Comment if you have a preference for the order I’ll be reviewing, otherwise I’ll just go (roughly) by most recent backwards..White Album 2, Shikabane Hime Kuro 2, Akikan 2 (ugh please no XD), Kemono no Souja Erin, Koukaku no Regios, and Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou. Uwahhh, so many~~
Back to the SoraKake post. Alright, I have to admit my gut didn’t really like this…mainly because when I first skimmed through it, the first thing I saw was Imo-chan. And let’s just say I have an issue with how she looks in both droid and small random maid-like round -thing- form.
But SoraKakeShoujo proves to be endearing and actually rather funny. Fukuyama Jun (notably Lelouch in Code Geass) is wonderful as Leopard the lonely noble AI, while Nonoka Ai (Fuuko in Clannad) manages to make Imo-chan more cute than annoying. Makino Yui (last reviewed here at ABTB as the seiyuu for the title character of Hoshi no Umi no Amuri) plays Honoka Kawai, who doesn’t make much of an appearance in this ep; on the other hand, the seiyuu for Akiha goes just by Mako (:S Pet peeve), and seems somewhat new. Endo Aya is on board as the cool Kannagi — she’s probably not very known for playing Sheryl (Macross Frontier) when the character’s not singing, but she nonetheless seems like a pretty competent seiyuu.

The episode starts off with shocking news; barely 3 seconds in, Akiha is told that she has to get married…to some random?! A screen of hologram (wedding?) dresses (one of the first signs that this is set in the pretty-much future) appear before her, but she evades the issue by dashing off for school in her awesome car. Said awesome car can move SIDEWAYS drift (wonder whether those are real wheels…), and fly, of course! In space! To tell the truth, I don’t really get the stuff going on in space. ._. But Neneko saying stuff like ‘I had a kick-ass bowel movement!’ just made me chuckle. :) Leopard (I agree with niisama, I thought this was Leopold too!) is also delightfully funny and random as an exaggerated AI with delusions of gradeur, who controls a ‘lone, noble’ colony.Definitely gonna watch more of this, though I have no idea where it’s going; seems pretty interesting, though!

Kick-ass bowel movement = too much info XD
No wonder the voices for Leopard and Imo sounded so familar - now that i recognise their seiyuus it all makes sense now =)
And things can drift without momentum - it happens in the anime, ergo it should be possible in real life! NOT -wry- Just kidding :P
The car didn’t drift sideways. It DROVE sideways. (If you didn’t notice, the wheels turned to the side in the wheel wells so that the car could move that way.)
@necroseer: I didn’t really know any other roles Nonoka Ai had, though…-thinks- And heh about the momentum. XD
@Cat Megex: Ahhh. I watched it early in the morning so wasn’t paying as much attention as I should have, thanks for pointing that out! Still, could wheels be turned that smoothly while on a surface? ._. Weird car..
