Four Ways Aside from Lub Dub - Kimi ni, Mune Kyun (~kyun!)
Pretty picture courtesy Danbooru. I’ve covered the manga and the first ep, now it’s time to cover the ending theme! Ever since someone mentioned it on chapter 5 of Maria Holic on my scanlation site (JE Scanlations), I’ve liked this quirky song. Somehow, I managed to miss it on the first episode of this anime; but maybe that’s cos the version I had was a cut-down preview. (Maybe.) It’s a great song, though! And I was tickled by a version I found, so here’s the post dedicated to Kimi ni, Mune Kyun.
By the way, Kimi ni, Mune Kyun (Uwaki na Bakansu) seems to kinda mean My Heart Beats For You (Naughty Vacation) — someone correct if that’s not accurate? Continue reading for the four youtube videos!
Yellow Magic Orchestra’s original version was released more than 20 years ago as the first track of their Naughty Boys album (1983). The band itself was set up in 1978, and said to be a major pop influence. Gee, all that was before I was born! It comes with a…rather-bizarre performance video. And here’s something I was shocked at — Sakamoto Ryuichi is/was in YMO (playing the keyboard)~ One of his songs, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, is definitely my favourite. :) The other two members of YMO are Hasono Haruomi (bass) and Takahashi Yukihiro (drums+vocals). From the video, neither of the three are…typical boyband material. However, I’ll have to say the song is great. Just..the video…-coughlaughs-
Asako Toki’s reindition of the song, released 6th Dec 2006 in her album, Weekend Shuffle, is rather jazzy and cool and good for night listening, even if her video is kinda…strange as well. (green doors with hands?!) The video seems to lack heart — She doesn’t seem all that comfortable performing. Still, alright version.
Yasutaka Nakata released a Capsule Remix of Asako Toki’s version on 21st Nov of the same year. It’s a pretty-awesome techno-ish version, but since it doesn’t have video I shan’t take up space with it here, and you can hop over to youtube to listen to it. (I laughed at the uploader’s vid description.)
And now in 2009 — Kobayashi Yu (Maria’s seiyuu), Sanada Asami (Kanako), and Inoue Marina (Matsurika) have teamed up to create a super-awesome version of the song…somewhat techno, and very very cute. Add the random-but-adorable ED to the mix, and I’m sold. XD Enjoy below!

Hahaha~ XD
Oh man. I remember watching the original YMO version and laughing my pants off XD It just goes to show what 20 years will do for a classic XD
@Kitsune: Was there a particular version you liked best, though? :)
@necroseer: Yeah…I remember the tremendous WTF effect watching the YMO version the first time had on me. XD
well, i gotta say… I love the original best, followed by the ED. but waiting for the full ED to be released, then finl verdist will be passed. Asako-sans version is nice to sing to a date at your first date. the remix of that is wicked though…. arggh… dance techno pop electronica from Japan is the best in the vein of the top 80s pioneers…..
@thejuggernaut: Thanks for commenting! :) Ahhh, yes, gotta wait for the ED. That pretty much sums up Asako-san’s version nicely, heh…I do like the techno remix, though.
For those looking for the Capsule Remix, that link isn’t working, so another one’s here — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyvzIv4VRmg&eurl=http://www.nme.com/video/id/KyvzIv4VRmg/search/%E5%90%9B%E3%81%AB%E8%83%B8%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E
