Shikabane Hime: Kuro 1 - Retro Music and Rotting Souls
Somehow the OP for Shikabane Hime: Kuro sounds rather retro. (The ED does, too, somewhat..) It’s quite nice, though — Beautiful Fighter sung by angela (composed by atsuko). [OP here, or PV]
The episode starts off with a puzzling picture of the woods coupled with haunting church-like chant-ish music that I didn’t quite get. Segue to bunch of people talking about assassinating an inactive (?) Shikabane Hime, “Hoshimura’s daughter”. (Makina, of course.) Read on for more, or gallery here.
It seems some stuff has been going on in the first season, that I completely missed. XD Makina’s contract monk, Tagami Keisei, has died and she refuses to accept the contract with Ouri, which results in her soul ‘rotting’ (I think?) and attracting unsavoury spirits. No one quite knows what to do about it, but it makes her vulnerable to attack — in the end, though, she accepts the contract and becomes powerful again!
I don’t really have much to say — this episode is pretty dark (in colour, not in subject material). Having watched only around three eps of Shikabane Hime: Aka (the first season), I have not much of an idea what’s going on, and probably shouldn’t watch more or I’ll confuse myself. XD
Makina asks about what heaven is — because she hears that a lot of Shikabane Hime fight to get to heaven. Do you believe in an afterlife? Also, what’s with the philosophical musings on fate?! “Without destiny (unmei?), you can still create fate (en?).”
