The first part of this episode certainly made me sit up and take notice! But after the OP it delves once again into Lydia x Edgar drivel. It seems they’re pretending to be engaged so Lydia can avoid Kelpie’s attentions…what an interminable episode this was. Whoa, this one is on the net pretty darned fast. There was some hype behind this even before it was out…I, along with other touhou fanboys (i.e. niisama), was pretty interested in it, though I’d seen samples of the animation and wasn’t very impressed. -wry- The characters looked sadly pudgy to me.

The second of the new-season 2008-2009 winter anime to show, MariaHolic is MUCH more promising than Akikan! — it is obvious SHAFT put a lot more thought into it. -wry- The animation is a bit…different from usual. (I’m told it’s SHAFT’s style.) Still, I like it since it’s pretty cute — even the SD is the same as the manga. XD Maria+Holic tells the story of Kanako, who enrols in an all-girl catholic school (Ame no Kisaki) in an attempt to find her ideal (female) partner. However, the first person she meets is the sarcastic maid…of a beautiful cross-dresser called Maria?!

This ep opens with the funny scene of Misaki raging at the amount of strawberries he’s receiving. Turns out Haruhiko (Persistent chap, eh?) has been sending strawberries every day; and to compete, Akihiko buys Misaki strawberry products. Obviously Misaki can’t take that much strawberries…but when he tries to confront Haruhiko about it, he…ends up going home with him?
I thought episode three would be the school carnival episode, but apparently not. Instead, it’s a very slow and somewhat boring one. We do find out that Haruhiko and Akihiko are half-brothers (different mothers), though, but…why couldn’t we see Misaki helping out with Sumi-senpai’s haunted house instead? Pah. No point posting the slideshow for this one (since it’s only 12 pictures), just visit the gallery. XD

In ep 3, the maid and Pulmo the loli’s dad (Deus Allen) conspire to destroy Earth, aiming to let only Adapters (surely the superior life form!) survive. In the process, they want to off themselves too..
Meanwhile, Perrier struggles with feelings of worthlessness, fueled by Vernier. (Her elder sister as well as dissociative identity?) Amuri and Suzu are still in their scantily-clad stora, though I must say Vernier’s purple Utores is the prettiest of them all. :) Come on…lace ribbons as an attack! This episode opens with a gratuitous shower scene, goes into a bit about how the miko called Miko’s gone missing (and was never a miko..?), then segues into a gratuitous bath tub scene.
Gotta love how Zettai Shogeki gives me the best one-liners. XD Mystery, though! Aya goes to Miko’s place, only to find it all in a mess; but when she goes to the shrine nearby, the old man says he never had a miko working there. Upon returning to the apartment, it’s all neat, and the landlord says no one’s lived there for half a year. Did Miko really exist??
